  • I had a funny moment today.

One of the people that I live with gives string lessons to students in the Northfield area.  Several of them are my students either at the middle school or the elementary for student teaching.

This evening I was reading the paper wearing my walking clothes after I went for a walk/sort of run and ate dinner and the doorbell rang.  I went and answered and one of my students from the middle school was there with her dad - ready for her lesson.

I told her - hi and that her teacher would be right back to give her the lesson and the first words out of her mouth were,

    "What are you doing here?"

"I live here during the week while I am student teaching."

    "You live HERE?!?!?!"

The look on her face was priceless :)

  • I just practiced conducting while at the local coffee shop and got lots of stares as I used my pen as a baton.

I feel awesome - bring on the 7th and 8th grade orchestra tomorrow!

  • Student teaching is going well so far - after two days I've seen all of the students and they seem like a group of really good hearted human beings.  That is so encouraging and really exciting!

Life in Northfield is good - much slower paced (so far) than before, but one plus is that the local coffee house here has wi-fi and that is awesome!

The past two weekends were really good ones - I went to Tim's oboe recital 2 weeks ago and this past one hung out in River Falls for Labor Day weekend.  It was a great weekend filled with walks, frisbee, camping, going to the state fair, mowing the lawn, making granola and more!

Thats all for now - time to get back to the homework and the hot tea with honey

    Summer 1

  • I move out tomorrow for the first time other than going to IMC.

So many questions to be answered starting tomorrow!

    Its exciting :)

  • Oh my goodness time has flown by...

I haven't been in the mood for blogging lately and I think that is an okay thing.  I figured it was time for an update as to what is going on with me...

    This summer was amazing!
Camp was probably THE best summer out of the three that I have been at IMC.  I feel honored to work with such wonderful, high-quality people year after year and it is such a wonderful family to belong to!  Thank you to all who were a part of that this summer!  I am already excited about going back next year :)   After IMC ended, Tim and I headed up to Winnipeg for a wonderful week hanging out with camp friends and exploring the area.  It was the best vacation either one of us could ask for.  Thanks to Tony, Kirsten and the kids for letting us stay in their basement for a week!!

After our time in Winnipeg was up, we headed to Ely to meet with my family.  Tim stayed for a few days and then headed home and I just got back home on Tuesday.  It was good, but I am glad to be back and getting things lined up for this fall!

I start my student teaching in just a few weeks in Northfield and I feel ready to do that - to move to Northfield for most of the week and be back here for the weekends.  Over the summer and especially in Winnipeg the rest of my life (aka after college) seems so around the corner, and I want to be ready to welcome it with open arms.  Its a pretty awesome feeling!

Life is just so good, amazing and wonderful in so many ways, sometimes its hard to believe that parts of it could be wrong or not right.  My sister is still struggling with her health - her attitude is amazing and I am just in awe of what she does every day.  It seems like just when one medical issue is figured out and finally treated, three more pop up and get in the way.  It is really frustrating and if you have any extra prayers - please send some her way.  Some days can be much more tough than others...

But on a lighter note for her - she once again made it to the state fair in the performing arts catagory for 4-H!!!  She is going to perform an original song and I am really excited to go and cheer her on!  We had an awesome sister day on Thursday where we went to River Falls to visit Tim's kitties and had some surprise birthday parfaits that Tim made.  It was pretty dang awesome.  We head out on our camping trip for her birthday tomorrow and I am glad that she feels well enough to continue that tradition!

I think that is all for now - while I am excited about what is coming up for me in my life around the bend, I am enjoying every day that I have because I can.  Strive for appreciating the small things - you might find that it changes your whole perspective on life.

Love you all and God bless,
    Christine

Its time for that annual message...

    Hello!
I hope this blog finds you well and getting ready for your summer plans!  I am getting ready to head back to the International Music Camp for my third summer as a counselor.  I am super excited about heading back to good friends and fun times on the border of North Dakota and Canada.  I will be checking my email and my voicemail on my phone at least once a week.  I love writing letters and postcards while I am at camp so if you feel so inclined my summer mailing address (through July 28th) below.

I hope that at least once a day you can stop and appreciate the humor that is in our everyday lives.  I know things can get you down and you feel so stuck but if you try and find that one moment of humor in each day, it seems to make things a lot easier.  I know I'll be working on that this summer when things start to get crazy at camp.

Have an amazing summer and I hope to hear from you sometime!

Love you all and God bless!
    Christine
